SILTON, a parish in the hundred of REDLANE, Sturminster division of the county of DORSET, 3 miles (S.S.W.) from Mere, containing 409 inhabitants.

The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at £7. 9. 7. H. C. Sturt, Esq. was patron in 1815. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas.
