PIDDLEHINTON, a parish in the liberty of PIDDLEHINTON, Dorchester division of the county of DORSET, 5¼ miles (N.N.E.) from Dorchester, containing 853 inhabitants.

The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at £17. 3. 9., and in the patronage of the Provost and Felloas of Eton College. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The small river Piddle runs through the parish. A school is supported by annual donations averaging about £16.
