OSMINGTON, a parish in the hundred of CULLIFORD-TREE, Dorchester division of the county of DORSET, 4½ miles (N.E.) from Melcombe-Regis, containing 318 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at £11. 0. 2½., and in the patronage of the Bishop of Salisbury. The church is dedicated to St. Osmond. The parish is bounded on the south by the English channel. Volume 3, page 457 |
