HINTON-MARTELL, a parish in the hundred of BADBURY, Shaston (East) division of the county of DORSET, 4¼ miles (N. by E.) from Wimborne-Minster, containing 257 inhabitants.

The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at £16. 8. 6½., and in the patronage of the Earl of Shaftesbury. The church is dedicated to St. John.
