HALSTOCK, a parish and liberty in the Sherborne division of the county of DORSET, 6½ miles (N.E. by N.) from Beaminster, containing 447 inhabitants.

The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the vicarage of Lyme-Regis, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the Prebendary of Lyme and Halstock in the Cathedral Church of Salisbury, endowed with £400 royal bounty, and £200 parliamentary grant. The church is dedicated to St. Mary.
