TOLPUDDLE, a parish in the hundred of PIDDLETOWN, Dorchester division of the county of DORSET, 7 miles (E.N.E.) from Dorchester, containing 351 inhabitants.

The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at 15. 7. 3., and in the patronage of the Dean and Canons of Christ Church, Oxford. The church is a small ancient fabric, built of rubble. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. The parish is bounded on the south by the small river Piddle.
