STOKE (EAST), a parish in the hundred of WINFRITH, Blandford (South) division of the county of DORSET, 4 miles (W. by S.) from Wareham, containing, with the tything of Worgret, 519 inhabitants.

The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at 14. 12.11., and in the patronage of Sir W. Oglander, Bart. The church is dedicated to St. Mary.
