LYTCHETT-MATRAVERS, a parish in the hundred of COGDEAN, Shaston (East) division of the county of DORSET, 8 miles (N. by E.) from Wareham, containing 609 inhabitants.

The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at £13. 3. 4. W. Trenchard, Esq. was patron in 1810. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
