HALSTOCK, a parish and liberty in the Sherborne division of the county of DORSET, 6 miles (N.E. by N.) from Beaminster, containing 447 inhabitants.

The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the vicarage of Lyme-Regis, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the Prebendary of Lyme and Halstock in the Cathedral Church of Salisbury, endowed with 400 royal bounty, and 200 parliamentary grant. The church is dedicated to St. Mary.
