COMPTON (NETHER), a parish in the hundred of SHERBORNE, Sherborne division of the county of DORSET, 2 miles (W.N.W.) from Sherborne, containing 458 inhabitants.

The living is a discharged rectory, annexed to the rectory of Over Compton, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the Dean of Salisbury, rated in the king's books at 7. 18. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas.
