COMPTON (NETHER), a parish in the hundred of SHERBORNE, Sherborne division of the county of DORSET, 2¾ miles (W.N.W.) from Sherborne, containing 458 inhabitants.

The living is a discharged rectory, annexed to the rectory of Over Compton, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the Dean of Salisbury, rated in the king's books at £7. 18. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas.
