BATCOMBE, a parish in the hundred of YETMINSTER, Sherborne division of the county of DORSET, 10 miles (S. by W.) from Sherborne, containing 177 inhabitants.

The living is a discharged rectory, with that of Frome-Vauchurch, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at 9. 9. 9., and in the alternate patronage of the Dowager Countess of Sandwich, and the Marquis of Cleveland. The church is dedicated to St. Mary.
