BATCOMBE, a parish in the hundred of YETMINSTER, Sherborne division of the county of DORSET, 10 miles (S. by W.) from Sherborne, containing 177 inhabitants.

The living is a discharged rectory, with that of Frome-Vauchurch, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at £9. 9. 9½., and in the alternate patronage of the Dowager Countess of Sandwich, and the Marquis of Cleveland. The church is dedicated to St. Mary.
