ASHMORE, a parish in that part of the hundred of CRANBORNE which is in Shaston (west) division of the county of DORSET, 5 miles (S.E.) from Shaftesbury, containing 166 inhabitants.

The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at 7. 19. 9. W. C. Bingley Esq. was patron in 1826. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas.
