ASHMORE, a parish in that part of the hundred of CRANBORNE which is in Shaston (west) division of the county of DORSET, 5 miles (S.E.) from Shaftesbury, containing 166 inhabitants.

The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at £7. 19. 9½. W. C. Bingley Esq. was patron in 1826. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas.
