ALMER, a parish in the hundred of LOOSEBARROW, Shaston (east) division of the county of DORSET, 5¾ miles (S.S.E.) from Blandford Forum, containing, with the hamlet of Mapperton, 188 inhabitants.

The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at £13. 5. 8. R. E. D. Grosvenor, Esq. was patron in 1819. The church is dedicated to St. Mary.
