ALMER, a parish in the hundred of LOOSEBARROW, Shaston (east) division of the county of DORSET, 5 miles (S.S.E.) from Blandford Forum, containing, with the hamlet of Mapperton, 188 inhabitants.

The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at 13. 5. 8. R. E. D. Grosvenor, Esq. was patron in 1819. The church is dedicated to St. Mary.
