John HOOD was a sailcloth manufacturer in Bridport who died in 1803. His wife was Susannah PALMER. I am looking for any more information about John. In particular I am looking for a birth or baptism. His grand son Henry made a written statement in 1895 that John was the brother of Lord Samuel Hood and Lord Alexander (Bridport) Hood. If that were to be correct, John would be the son of Rev. Samuel Hood and Mary Hoskyns of both Somerset and Dorset at various times. I do believe that this Rev. Samuel was resident in Beaminster for some time.

Searching for any information on the family of John Smith and his wife Miriam. Surname unknown. They would have married, almost certainly, between 1805-1814. The family are on 1841 census, place called Hatchet, Lyme Regis Axminster, Dorset. Miriam Smith died 1850. John living Hatchet, now Devon in 1851. No sign of Marriage in Lyme Regis?! Can anyone help? One of their daughters was named Elizabeth Palmer Smith, which may indicate that mother Miriam had that name before marriage. Again, can't find. Where abouts was Hatchet? Any offers?

I am by no means the first researcher to attempt to prove the existence of the enigmatic Patience Worth. It is alleged that she was born on about 1650 and emigrated to the United States from Dorsetshire, England circa 1670 with her father who was possibly a weaver by trade. I can find no solid documentation to substantiate this, but if any clues to these facts could be found it would be one of the great finds of parapsychology. Thank you for your help.

Lucy was born around 1811 in Sherborne, Dorset and died in Riccarton, Christchurch, New Zealand in 1889. JOhn Brake died in 1898 in Christchurch, New Zealand. John Brake was the son of a John Brake.
