William KENTLE born about 1760 near Christchurch.
We are interested in finding out more about the Kenway family of Bridport. James Kenway (married to Jane) was imprisoned at Exeter in 1660 for his religious beliefs. He had three children, William, Joseph and Mary. They were all members of the Society of Friends and were imprisoned or had their property confiscated.
I am descended I believe from a Peter Kenway who we think is the son of William or Joseph. His son James (1742-1833) married an Ann Seymour and his grandson James (1770-1834) married a Deborah Balston in 1796. Their sons William and Henry married Rachel and Elizabeth Heath (who might be sisters).
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who is researching this name or who has specific knowledge or can suggest sources for more information.
