They had about ten children, three of whom William, George and Mary Ann migrated to Australia in 1838. His first child was born in 1833 in Newfoundland and he was last know living in 1872. He emigrated from England and settled in Exploits Newfoundland. He may have emigrated with others of his family, but this is unknown for certain. He may have fled England running from the law. I believe the only record of him will be a birth record and possibly a passenger list of his emigration. Researcher: Rosemary Holloway When Miriam Smith died in 1850, death was registered by one Mary Hillmore. Was this Miriam's daughter Mary who had married a Mr Hillmore? And if so where did that happen? Mary born 1818, Lyme Regis. Not listed as living at home on 1841 census. Can find no marriage in Dorset, can anyone help please. When John Smith died in 1860 (husband of Miriam), death registered by Elizabeth Gill. Was she daughter Elizabeth born Lyme in 1822? Did she marry a Mr Gill and if so, where? Hastings Most of my mother's ancestors came from Dorset. UPWARD & NEW originated in Stourpaine, MORTIMER from Wareham, DOREY from East Stoke, GILLINGHAM from Hazelbury Bryan and Buckland Newton, RAYMOND (& variants) from Tollard Royal (actually in Wiltshire) and WHITMARSH from Cann. In the 1891 census the list includes four more children but James was omitted. He was taken by his mother to Long Island, New York to live with his uncle James Holloway at about eight years of age.
